Study of Preference for each user on a Road Traffic Guide Robot Deployed at a Road Construction Site

Obstructing or controlling traffic flow for road construction can lead to a greater possibility of traffic accidents than usual. Drivers and pedestrians passing through a construction zone as well as road workers and signal men are exposed to the danger of traffic accidents. Therefore, as a follow-up of Youngwoo Lee (2015), this study analyzed the user preference on a road traffic guide robot by evaluating the applicability for the engineers on site and comparing it with the applicability evaluation done by existing public employees. A comparison of the two results showed that the order of safety, economic viability and convenience was the same for both the engineers and public employees in the level 2 importance, whereas the engineers were more sensitive to the economic aspects. This suggested that they placed more emphasis on economic feasibility in direct relation to their company profitability than public employees. As a result of the third-tier analysis, the user characteristics was also analyzed as for their visibility and efficiency, which were the subcategory of safety, and both the construction engineers and public employees believed that the operability was more important than mobility, which was the subcategory of convenience. On the other hand, the engineers evaluated the mobility more important than public employees.
